In March 2018, journalist Ciaran Tierney attended a beautiful and dignified ceremony of remembrance for all the Irish women (estimated at 30,000) who were incarcerated at some stage in Magdalene Laundries. As a former newspaper journalist, he was surprised to discover that he was the only reporter at the event in Galway City.
